Overview

Focus Ireland has worked in housing and homelessness since 1985. Over this time our experience has helped guide our models of service. We remain flexible in our work practices, ensuring that the changing needs of our customers continue to be our main priority. Focus Ireland offer services to people in Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Sligo, and Kilkenny. Our model of housing and services provision focuses on three key areas: Prevention, Homeless Support and Housing Support.

Prevention Services

Focus Ireland’s prevention services are specifically targeted at groups who are deemed particularly vulnerable to homelessness. Services such as Advice & Information are available in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny, Waterford & Sligo and offer friendly non-judgemental support to people looking for advice or information. If we can’t help, we can refer you to someone who can. Our Residential Aftercare Services in North Dublin, South Dublin and Waterford offer young people leaving state care a place to live while they develop the necessary skills to live independently.

Our Step-Down Programme is targeted at people leaving rehabilitation programmes, while our Prison In-reach programmes in Dublin, Cork and Limerick offer supports to people leaving prison in order to prevent them becoming or returning to homelessness when they are released.

Homeless Support

The journey from homelessness to home is different for each person. Many people who are on this journey need help along the way, whilst others may require ongoing support to ensure they sustain their home in the long-term. Focus Ireland’s support services are targeted to meet the needs of all those who are making the journey from homelessness to home.

These services are designed to help people to address the issues that have contributed to their becoming homeless so that they can take the necessary steps to resolve these issues and move on with their lives. Because the support required differs for everyone, we have developed a range of day services and short-term residential programmes tailored to support the needs of young people, adults and families, providing them with the best opportunity to successfully make the transition from homelessness to home. Focus Ireland provides support services for everyone, including children, young people, adults and families.

Housing Support

For many who use our services, homelessness has been a pattern in their lives. In our work to provide people with a place to call home Focus Ireland offer Long-term accommodation in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, Sligo and Kilkenny.

In addition, Focus Ireland also provide housing support to households in our own housing, and housing in the community, who are vulnerable to homelessness, believing that such support is key to ensuring that they settle and remain in their homes. Housing Support is provided at various levels depending on the needs of the household. Some households settle into their homes with only low-support needs, while others, who are more vulnerable to homelessness, need our support in the longer-term if we are to support them in sustaining their tenancy and prevent those households becoming homeless again.

Focus Ireland also provides support to households in local authority and private rented accommodation.
